weird freeze up - BSOD, with large zip files and browsing pictures
Heres the issue, Im using a laptop, dual core, amd, 4 gigs memory, 64 bit, win xp pro upgraded from win 7 home premium which was upgraded from vista. ( im on a laptop, so doing a clean install vs a upgrade would do more harm then good to do the proprietary software and drivers and all of that such) ( plus i got the upgrade from my Manufacturer. ) the problem doesnt happen EVERYTIME ( and im going to load up my pc with more pics to try and replicate it) but the issue is this, sometimes when im downloading zips or pictures using utorrent, if i preview them, i eather get this ( http://attachments.techguy.org/attachments...08/img_0150.jpg ) or the BSOD ( APC_INDEX_MISMATCH ) . it also happens when u torrent isnt even on, so that eliminates that, and its with multiple things so its not a bad file or a virus or anything. It also sometimes happens when im browsing through my pictures ,or my document type files. I dont think its hardware because im a gamer, and i watch a lot of movies streaming and such, and i think if it was a hardware issue it would be more predominant and not JUST when im doing those things( pictures, zips ect). I havent a clue what it is, and i believe i have the most up to date video / sound / wifi drivers. I have tryed resetting the memory, doing a memory test and a hard drive test, all came back clean, and re setting the memory didnt do anything. ive called hp and they cant help me much, i keep hearing your going to have to do a restore and if that dont work, then send it in. I dont really want to spend the time doing a format for in the past ive had to do it 3X to this pc for other issues, that have been fixed ( unrelated) but once i even found out that formatting didnt help one of the issues, so i dont want to waist my time doing that to have that happen again, inless i have concrete proof that formatting will fix it. along with that, im a gamer, and have purchased a few games this month ( problem happened before the games) and i have multpul pc's on my home network here, and over about 15 games on my pc, that if i format, i might reach the 250gb limit on the comcast bandwidth from re downloading my games. so i dont even know if thats an option right now, im just needing some help, all help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,Will this issue occur when playing games (online games)? Disconnect the internet access to test and make sure the freezing happens only when getting online. What is the model of your PC, video card, network card? Are the drivers instended to windows 7?I would like to make sure if the issue occurs when you trying to view pictures and documents saved on local hard disk.To troubleshoot the issue, I suggest boot into Safe mode with networking and upload file or browsing pictures.Restart the computer and start pressing the F8 key on the keyboard. On a computer that is configured to boot multiple Operating Systems, press the F8 key when you see the boot menu. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode with networking, and then press Enter. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with Administrator privileges. How to collect Minidump==================1. Click "Start", input "SYSDM.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.2. Click the "Advanced" tab and click the "Settings" button under "Startup and Recovery". 3. Under "Write debugging information" section, make sure the "Small Memory Dump (64KB)" option is selected. 4. Check if "%SystemRoot%\Minidump" is in the "Small Dump Directory" open box. Wait untill the Blue Screen appears again, refer to the following steps to collect memory dump files: 1. Please click Start, click Run and type "%SystemRoot%\Minidump" (without quotation marks).2. Go to your Desktop, right-click on it and create a new folder named "Dump".3. Copy all the memory dump files (looks like Mini092003-01.dmp) in Minidump to this folder. 4. Right-click on the Dump folder, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder".5. Please upload the ZIP file to SkyDrive and provide us the link for analyzing http://cid-4b2f155953942dc9.skydrive.live.com/summary.aspx Note: The above Windows Live ID is ONLY for collecting troubleshooting information. "Small Memory Dump (64KB)" option is selected ||| mine says 256k. so i selected that. and this issue never happens when playing games. and i have some pretty intence video games i play on here ( left for dead2, counter strike source ect) i will do the steps you said, ( as in like trying it with my wifi card disabled, and im going to put a bunch of pictures on here and browse through them and such to see if i can replicate the issue) pc model: HP dv7 1448dx video card: ATI HD3200 network card: Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g wifi adapter ( with IDT audio codec) and yes, to my knowldege all drivers are for the windows 7 OS. The really strange thing though is how it just happens when im doing those particular things ( which is never very often) and how it does NOT happen during web browsing / watching streaming movies, or playing video games. i will also try once i can replicate the issue, try seeing if it happens in safe mode. If it DOES NOT happen in safe mode ( once i know how to replicate it) what would that seem like? a software conflict? Thanks for all the help, really, seriously, thanks.

Yes, If the issue does not occur in Safe mode, we can focus on the software conflict/certain device driver instead of hardware side.If the issue does disappear in Safe Mode, we can continue the following troubleshoot to narrow down the culprit.Clean Boot =============This method will disable loading program or service from start up to avoid conflict 1. Click "Start",and type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the open box to start the System Configuration Utility. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4. Click "OK" to restart your computer to Selective Startup environment. 5. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.6. Check whether or not the issue still appears in this environment.
