Just curious why I have these folders on my computer. See the directories in the picture below. The directory names are: -5d839cbaf21b0000567bae3b782d - 6df572dbd0a18f3a75ba1c345898 -c1852d00bcd9cc519e15 Also, I can't delete them. No, these files are not and do not appear to be from Microsoft Security Essentials. I am unable to browse in most of these folders so can't completely confirm that files like .vdm are in there. ok, those are temporary folder which are created by Installers. Windows chooses the partitiion with most free space to extract the installers and rum them from there. Take ownership [1], change the permissions and delete the folders.
