can i use an unused vista upgrade disc for a vista desktop to upgrade a vista laptop? Hi kariyac. Are you speaking of the free Vista-to-Win7 upgrade disk offer that was highly publicized last year? That promotion was called the Windows 7 Upgrade Option. It was available during transition period June 26 2009 - January 31 2010. Although the offer is expired now, here is a sampling of some world-wide MS sites that still have useful information and FAQs about it: Windows 7 Upgrade Option HK Windows 7 Upgrade Option UK Windows 7 Upgrade Option Malaysia Windows 7 Upgrade Option Australia Here's a really neat video from the event's announcement: Announcing the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program and Windows 7 Pricing I cannot answer your question with authority. But unless you received any documentation that prohibits it, I'd say it's perfectly acceptable to install it on any other qualifying computer. The EULA seems ok with it. Based on Stephan Schwarz' photo, it's just a generic OEM Media disk and Product Key. So, why not? Personally, I enjoy Vista-SP2 so much on my present computers, I'd use that disk to upgrade an old XP machine instead. LOL. That remark is bound to start a riot here. :)
