vista pcs have problem connecting to internet after DNS rebuild in Windows 2000 server
The day before yesterday, our enterprise network was acting funny, though PCs could connect to LAN, they couldn't connect to the Internet. Our Windows 2000 Domain Server is also the primary DNS for all network PCs, so thinking it could be because of this I rebuild DNS forward and reverse lookup zones. And since then, most of VISTA PCs are having issue of being able to connect to local network but not to Internet, in some it works but with disruptions, suddenly you could see only network and no Internet. What could have gone wrong? BTW, this issue is not there in XPs. Will really appreciate a help in this regard, though support for Windows 2000 has been stopped since later 2010, but we are in Nepal, so hope you understand. Thanks and Rgds, Binaya!Binaya!

Hi, Does it work through IP address? If it does not work, your DNS servers seems to be dead to me, try to use other public DNS servers, here is OpenDNS servers: DNS1: 208.67.222.222 DNS2: 208.67.220.220 Here is how to plug them in: 1) Open your network connections 2) Right-click on your "Local area network" or "Wireless connection", whichever you use to connect to the Internet and choose "Disable", then click on its properties 3) Open "TCP/IP configuration" 4) Fill in you IP address as: 192.168.1.111 5) Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 6) Gateway's addess: 192.168.1.1 7) DNS primary: 208.67.222.222 8) DNS secondary: 208.67.220.220 9) Press Ok, quit from properties with saving changes, right click on your "LAN" or "WAN", whichever you edited, and choose "Enable", your internet must be working now.
