Hi glenn, After reading your post, I would like to give a summary of the issue we encountered as below: 1. The user account on the Windows Vista laptop is protected with password. 2. After the laptop is brought to your friends home, it cannot connect to the public maps. 3. Password Protect Sharing is turned off on the Windows Vista PC. 4. On the Windows Vista laptop, you have to enter password when trying to connect to the public map. However, the issue disappears after removing the password for the user account on the laptop. If there is anything I have misunderstood, please feel free to let me know. Meanwhile, I would like to confirm the following items with you: 1. What does public maps stand for in your post? Is it a network disk or the Windows Vista PC? 2. Is there a user account with the same username created on both Windows Vista laptop and PC? If so, are the password for the user accounts the same? In addition, please refer to the following article to troubleshoot the issue: File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Hope it helps.
