vista connects to network but can't access the internet
Hello! My new laptop dell does not want to connect to the wireless internet! The computer connects to the network and everything seems ok but when i try to access the internet it says it can't be displayed because it is not connected. I have tried diagnosing and resetting using the windows help but this gets me nowhere. And fiddled with a few other settings but nothing seems to be working!I have another computer connected so i know that the network is working fine.If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated!Luke

Hi Luke, Please refer to the following KB to troubleshoot your network issue. Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233/en-us On a Windows Vista-based client computer, you cannot obtain an IP address or options from the DHCP server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942971/en-us If the issue still persists, please collect IP settings on your computer and post them on the forum. 1. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box. 2. Right click the cmd icon and select Run as Administrator. 3. Run ipconfig /release 4. Run ipconfig /renew 5. Run ipconfig /all, copy and post the result on the forum. Thank you for your cooperation.
