virus on install
why is there a virus found in C:\windows\winSxS\.... after formatting the hard drive and re-installing? And on my new notebook 8.1?

What makes you think there is a virus in a clean install?  What malware are you using?  What else have you installed?  More info please

Hi,

Yes, why did you think it's a virus. Please tell us the exact file name and type.

Furthermore, since Windows component store (C:\Windows\winsxs) directory is used during servicing operations within Windows installations. Servicing operations include, but are not limited to, Windows Update, service pack, and hotfix installations.  

You could use disk cleanup tool to clean up the files in that folder. More information, please read this reference:
