I some how got a virus onto my computer as an antivirus program that I never downloaded onto my compuer. It wont let me do anything when it loads up normally little windows pop up saying that my computer is infected and if i want to run the virus scan. I cant access the internet or if i try reformating it shuts down my screen, my computer is still running its just the screen is black. I've tried the F8 option and it wont let me log in under me or administrator. Please help!

Sounds like a horrible germ. I can clean up your disk but it would take a few weeks to ship it back and forth. Go to my IT site and see if you can get the Malicious Software Removal Tool to work.My MVP is for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT, and I am getting increasingly good with Visual Studio. Weeeeell, unless you have another user on the machine with Admin privileges you've only got a couple of choices here, and you're not going to like either of them (unless you've got a friend who's good with computers - and by good I mean actually gets paid to fix things like this). Both fixes involve actually removing the drive from the computer an putting it in another PC as a second drive. Option1 (and the best option): Once the drive is in the other computer copy all your important data off it and onto some other media. Replace the drive in your computer and reinstall Windows from scratch. Option2: With the drive in another computer, scan it with a trustworthy anti-virus suite. Once that's done and it says the threat is removed, scan it again with Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/). When that's done, scan it again with Superantispyware (http://superantispyware.com/). After that, put the drive back in your computer and scan it again with Malwarebytes (because it couldn't scan your user Registry in the other computer.) Once it's all clean it should be safe to use again (But I wouldn't trust it...) And if you think this will take all day - you have no idea... Oh, and if you do have another user with Admin privileges chances are it's not infected (yet) so you can run these utilities from that user without removing the drive. But don't try to create a second Admin user now... it's too late, any user you create will be infected as well.

It itself is the virus infection. Tell us its name and we can probably point you to instructions for getting rid of it. Or you yourself can do a web search on its name; use another computer for the search if you can't get on the internet with yours. Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

There are ways to stop the malware's processes so that you can regain control of the system but we need the name of the rogue antivirus, please. Alternatively, if you have access to another system, you can burn a Linux based rescue CD and boot the affected system from it, which precludes you having to pull the Hard Drive and move it to another system. Here are 2 free rescue CDs. Suggest you give the Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 a shot first.
