virus
My computer just got a virus with phony "windows security alert" pop-ups constantly. also cannot access Internet Explorer -- constantly has porno there or else it says "Internet cannot display the webgpage visiting this web site may harm your computer"...etc. They want me to purchase Antivirus System Pro. I have automatic windows updates, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, which has scanned my computer and said it would remove all problems, but they are still there. I have downloaded Windows anti spyware kb890830-v3.0 and the windowsDefender, but they don't seem to install. when i click them to install, it says they are infected. I've tried to get into Safe Mode (clicking F8 at startup) but cannot. i have windows XP home edition. this is driving me crazy. i do not really have much in the way of technical abilities. help appreciated.1 person got this answerI do too

Your system is infected with a rogue antivirus program. It is called "rogue" because it pretends to be A Good Guy but is really Evil. Do not pay them! Look for removal steps here Bleeping Computer removal how-to's - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html or here - Malwarebytes malware removal guides - http://tinyurl.com/5xrpft Malwarebytes' Anti-malware (MBAM) or SuperAntiSpyware will often do the job. Both have free versions and you do not need to purchase these programs. These may work for you and all may be well. However, in many cases the computer will also be infected with other trojans and protected by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean. If your machine is one of these cases, either get guided help at one of the specialty forums listed at the link below OR take your machine to a local computer professional OR back up your data and do a clean install of Windows. It is your choice. I don't recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of places. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#HJT-linksMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

You have to end Antivirus System PRO process because it blocks .exe files. It should be sysguard.exe or [random]sysguard.exe , for example xcrfsysguard.exe . Full removal guide here: how to remove Antivirus System PRO . You may also do this: Start->Run Input: cmd. Press "OK" Then you will go to command windows Input: assoc .exe=exefile Press "Enter". Try to install anti-virus/spyware software now. Or try renaming installer.exe to installer.com and run. Goof luck!
