very slow performance
hi all, I have two machines first: (faster hardware)HP dc7800 with windows 7. If I copy 1GB from a network computer with attached USB Drive ~ 1,5min 5-6MB/sec second: HP Notebook 810 with windows XP SP3: 1GB file copy up to USB Drive - 20seconds - 25MB/sec

If your machines are running slow consider running simply maintenance procedures. 1. MSCONFIG- disable any start-up programmes you don't want to run. e.g. Adobe 2. run cleanmgr.exe- Disk clean-up. Deletes/removes tmp files and files not in use. e.g. trials of games 3. Run the Disk Defragmenter tool. Consolidates all your files into more managable sectors on your HDD. 4. If you are using a server2008, consider running Distributed Branchcache and direct access as these will decrease bandwidth on the network.
