using task scheduler to restore System Image everynight
Hi, For a public computer I have created a PC using MGPE. When I configured it as needed I got System image and copied that on d: partiotion. I can now restore the whole system any time I want. I have two questions: 1-How can I schedule that every night the computer automatically restore the Sysytem Image( through task scheduler)? 2-When I use the ghost image of the above PC( which has one disk with two partition;boot partition c: and partition d: has only the system Image), and reimage another simillar PC, the restore won't work. It can see the file in the restore process, but when it wants to restore it says the file does not exist? Thanks in advance, Henry

Hi Henry, Thanks for the post! 1. Refer to this: Schedule a Task. 2. Since we're not familiar with that ghost image, I recommend you ask this question in the ghost software product forum to find if other people encounter the similar issue. Hi Miya, Thank you for reply. I have some experience in Ghost. In Windows 7 you can backup image of system using Backup and Restore option. Later you can boot the PC, F8, Repair and then choose restore Image. All Microsoft calls. It will restore the image from wherever you have backed it up. I backed it up to a local partition. So all Windows calls. I believe I need Windows SDK for WIndows 7 to write a program to do this, or a script, or..? So I appreciate your answer, but my question was related to Windows System Image backup and restore. Regards, Henry

re:ghost; I "noticed" that Microsoft is not familiar, or lets say( the way I read it), not happy with Ghost imaging and ImageX to take care of licensing issues can deal with your requirements better that what Ghost does, nevertheless in all the processes that ImageX is involved, sysprep is involved that ruines whatever has been done. I had to rebuild the PC from scratch whenever I was using it since it needs partitions( GUIDs) to be in right sector, e.g and makes the "real" life of poor MCPs( not MCSE) like me like a hell. We have to provide customers with their requirements and what i(we?) get is more and more restrictions which might help you not answering the calls but not us which should deliver on the ground. I was offended by your reply since, I guess either my question was not clear or you did not read it and referred me to Ghost?! If you are not happy with what Ghost does and you are not happy with Apple, do something that they do. Be customer oriented rather than being arrogant. I am searching the whole web and everyone is asking about why Micosoft does not do anything about the bugs in AIK, Mandatory profile in 2008, sysprep.. and what Microsoft does, they are too good and powerful to even answer..
