Hi

I want to install windows 8.1 enterprise on my new work laptop by doing a clean install. The laptop came with windows 8 SL and cannot be added to the domain. I want to do an upgrade from windows 8 SL to 8.1 Enterprise that the company uses. What i need to know is if the the windows 8 enterprise key will activate once 8.1 is installed using the slui 3 option or the command prompt option

I have to say that we cannot activate clean installed Windows 8.1 enterprise by using the key for Windows 8 enterprise.

If you bought the enterprise volume license with the agreement of free upgrade new software item in SA, you can use this key to download Windows 8.1 ENT image file from volume license center, and deploy an upgrade.

Thanks for letting me know. ill follow your method of upgrading for my laptop. a clean install would have been preferred but hopefully soon we'll get 8.1 keys for newer machines.
