using a seagate drive with windows 8

when i connect a seagate portable hard drive to my computer - it won't recognise it. 

I have windows 8.

anyone know what's up with it?

Hi,

First, please make sure that the seagate portable hard drive is not broken, connect it to another machine and check if it works.

Connect the drive to your machine using another usb port as a test.

check if is listed under device manager, if it is, please uninstall it from device manager, then re-connect it to your machine.

If it is even not listed in device manager, then pleaes install latest Windows updates, reinstall usb controller and check if these helps.
