username and password problems with a mapped network drive windows 7
I have a computer running Windows 7 Pro. I am trying to map a network drive but it will not take the user name and pwd. I have tried this on other windows 7 pc's and it works fine. I notice when I go to log in under a different name it shows I am in the domain of the pc I am working on . any suggestion about something I am missing

If you need to map a network drive using different credentials, tick "Connect using different credentials" on the drive map screen. To specify different credentials with Windows 7, if the machine you are connecting FROM is a member of a domain then the machine always affixes the domain prefix, eg: Domain = NETWORK, User = NETWORK\User Windows 7 always passes this onto remote machines. If the remote machine is part of a different domain then you need to manually specify the domain, eg: User = NETWORK2\User The same applies if the remote machine is the member of a workgroup, but you need to prefix the username with the remote machine hostname, eg: User = REMOTEPC\User The remote computer will authenticate the received credentials against any security databases it knows about, which is either going to be its own AD domain or the local user accounts.

I am in the same boat as fwaheed79 . I tried all these things and still cannot connect to more than one server. I know there is something I am missing because it does not happen on all windows 7 machines.Marshall
