I don't know what fast user switching is, but the welcome screen shows with no account user names to select. No administrator or my name, nothing.

do you have just a login box? It would help if you could be more specific about what you see. if there is a box that has a Username : Password : style field, just put in your username, and password and click okay.

There is no log in box. If there were a log in box I would know what to do. All I have is the window xp welcome screen, no log in box, no user names to select.

it just says "welcome" ? it might mean your system was damaged in some way and will not accually boot normally, try rebooting into safe mode http://tinyurl.com/26vj9aj

this is a wierd problem, on startup there is no place to click on a "username" the only way i can logon is in safemode, but then I cant access user controls. i have tried to repair windows and no luck, also with no administrator password, xp is telling me the p/w is wrong. Thanks, Rick
