Hello all,

Thanks a lot for your post. May i know the following clarification as i want to use single interface at EDGE server.

Unsupported Scenario

A Consolidated Edge cannot be deployed with a single Network Interface in the environment as the roles has a requirement to have and bind separate IP addresses for internal and external services. At the same time, a single multihomed network adapter connected to a same IP sub-network for both internal and external routes is not supported for the A/V Edge role specifically.

– Did not understand why not supported, in TCP/IP communication, what will be the issue? If I make sure that external and internal users see the EDGE server with different IP.  External users will see the EDGE server with public IP. The external users will not able to connect internal interface in any case.  Internal users/server will see the EDGE server with private IP. They will be able to connect with public IP /service (port).

Besides that, if i use 2 NIC but IP will be from same subnet of DMZ what will be the issue.

Appritiate your response.

Thanks

Ashif

Please go back and read the three articles I posted earlier as they explain why multiple interfaces are required. You cannot have a single interface on the Edge server as the OCS/Lync software was designed to work only with multiple interfaces.  You also cannot use the private and public IPs in the way you are trying to do as A/V will not function corectly as this configuraion is not valid for proper ICE/STUN/TURN compatibilty.

Jeff, the links to your posts no longer work, have they been moved to a new location?

Although Jeff is no longer listed as a contributor, I was able to bring up a list of his old articles by plugging his name into their URL:

Hopefully you can find what you're looking for there.
