upgrading options?
Currently I am running windows 7 rc, and I have purchased the upgrade dvd. Now will I be able to upgrade from Vista Home Premium Upgrade edition?(I haven't a clue where my XP Disk is)

Blazer - Hmm.. That might be a bit tricky. If you can get Vista installed, then yes, no problem. There may be a method - you can research using Google or Bing regarding installing a Vista upgrade cleanly...

Installing vista is no problem, it is just a matter of using vista as an upgrade path for itself. but will 7upgrade work with vista upgrade? or will I have to cancel my upgrade order and shell out more $ for a complete build? (not a feazable option for my current financial situation :)

Blazer - Then in that case, there is no problem. Vista upgrade is as good as Vista full - OEM or Retail - doesn't matter. Just as long as it's a valid copy. If the license can pass muster, then there's no problem.

Here are the upgrade paths from Vista: From Windows Vista (SP1, SP2) Upgrade to Windows 7 Business Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate Enterprise Enterprise Home Basic Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate Home Premium Home Premium, Ultimate Ultimate Ultimate So in your case you will need Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate to upgrade from Vista Home Premium. As long as you have Vista installed you should be fine. Upgrading from Windows 7 RC to RTM is not supported. Juraj

This is a wee bit hard to follow...Are you dual-booting? Vista & Win7You had XP, then upgraded to Vista and (now)also (dual-boot) have Win7 ORYou have now replaced Vista w/ Windows 7 RC?If it's dual-boot, when you get your Win7 Upgrade DVD, yes go from Vista to Win7 w/ it.IF, you switched Vista to Win7 RC... Put Vista back in & then go Vista to Windows 7You cannot go Win7 RC to the final version Upgrade. There is a way you can clean install (the Win7 Upgrade)on the basis of the Vista you had. Really, I would recommend your 2nd suggested approach... re-install Vista & then go w/ the Win7 Upgrade.Drew - MS Partner / MS Beta Tester / Pres. Computer Issues

Ok, thanx for all the advice, It looks like I can reinstall vista, and upgrade from that then. it is just going to take 3 steps (installs) instead of one.
