upgrade to win7 from xp
If I purchase the upgrade version, and do a clean install on a separate partition (dual boot with XP and WIN7 on different partitions) do I lose my license for XP?

Kristies, This was in the Windows Vista EULA: 13. UPGRADES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from. After you upgrade, you may no longer use the software you upgraded from. So, yes, you lose the license. But don't lose the disk or the Authorization key. Since you are upgrading, you will need proof of the original for installation/re-installation.
