when I go to start menu it shows a update icon in the shut down button. So i shut it down let it go through the process then it shuts off . then i start it up again and after about 5 minutes I go back to start and the icon is back on the restart button again. what could be the problem? I run windows 7

Hi, That seems the update package doesn’t install properly. Please go to Windows Update and view update history if any update packages install failed. Also check for updates from Microsoft Update to scan new update packages online. If the issue persists, try to disable Windows Update and enable it again. Hope it helps. Has this issue occurred previously with any other updates ? Open Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update . Next to Updates were installed: there is a View available update history link.
