unregistered exception handler
Hi all, when resuming from hibernation, I get a black screen with this single message in white : "unregistered exception handler".It appears while resuming from "deep" hibernation, when the resume bar is at about 80%.Sometimes (about 5% of the resumes) it resumes correctly. This (correct resume) often happens when the time between hibernation and resume is small (some minutes). My main hardware : a laptop "clevo" m570tu, core 2 duo T9400, 4GB DDR3, NVidia 9800M.(Edit) The laptop bios is set to EFI mode, and the disk's partition has an EFI boot zone.Windows version where this happens :Windows 7 RC 64bits US(7100)Windows 7 Beta 64bits US(7000)In Application & System Logs I have some warnings and errors:Note: these 2 message appearswhen the aboveproblem appearafter I reboot with "delete hibernation file and boot normally" option >The previous system shutdown at 3:42:37 PM on 5/15/2009 was unexpected. >The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.>Possible Memory Leak. It seems to be related to either the power cable or the ethernet cable being connected at the time hibernation is triggered, and not connected when windows resumes from hibernation. There is also the biometric device which sometimes stops working after a succesful resume from hibernation.Device: TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor (WBF advanced mode) with UPEK driver version 1.2.0.147 of 2009-04-23.

softlion - This is a known issue with the RC. In fact, there seem to be a bunch of them with hibernation/sleep/standby... Stay tuned for updates....

Ok.It was also an issue in beta.It may (or not)be related to the ethernet driver.A new one just installed from microsoft updates, and the issue is now much more frequent ....

Hi,recommend not only to look after those BIOS settings, but also check your inside's PC's physical condition.Maybe a RAM Dimm isn't connected properly to the motherboard.Ciao,Sabine---Just a HP Mini Netbook running Windows 7 RC ---

Which bios settings are you talking about ?The TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor driver has been windows updated and works correctly now in every condition. The error appears randomly, once itresumes nicely, another it doesn't.I will check the ram using memtestx86+RAM is fast 2x2Go (DDR3 7-7-7 PC3-8500F dual channel specified)

The nvidia display driver has been updated. No change.memtest 86+ ran without any error for one hour.So my memory modules are not faulty ...

I've find out the conditions to have the problem and I'm able to reproduce it as I want. It's when going to hibernation AND the memory used byrunning programs is over 2Go (I have 4Go, 2x2Go).Then it will not recover from hibernation with the above error.Note: my bios is set to EFI mode.If I close some running programs before hibernation then it will resume nicely. Is it fixed in RTM version ?Or should I sell my laptop asap :) ?

I'm gonna sell my Clevo ... Have you thought about, rather than selling it. running Windows XP SP3 ?Another option is : turn off Hibernate. It is not an essential function.

Hi,I've reinstalled Windows 7 final from MSDN today on the same laptop. After all drivers are update, I get the exactly same bug !!!!!How can you tell which driver is faulty ?? Clean install again, this time without a connection to the network.Try to hibernate/resume. I'm guessing that the problem won't happen (the format of the error message doesn't sound familliar, so I'm guessing it's in another driver/software package).Look in device manager, and make a note of the devices that do not have drivers installed after setup (and check your video adapter too...it might have drivers, but they might be the "standard VGA driver", and a better one may be on Windows Update). Then connect it to the network, and go to those devices one at a time, right click and update driver software. After each one finishes, try to hibernate.Hopefully with this, you'd be able to find the offending component.Want to know if your hardware will work on Windows 7? Ok guys... i've had exactly the same problem,AND with EXACTLY the same hardware! so my guess was: it will be a driver problem. after uninstalling the fingerprint driver (and disabled the device) the problem was gone for me! so MABY (if you guys still follow this thread) it will help you 2. good luck ;)
