Running Win7 Ultimate on a Dell Studio 1747 laptop with two 500G Toshiba MK5056GSY ATA disk drives, all drivers up to date 5/25/12, I get these paired messages when running a java.exe jar file in java version 1.7.0_01-b08. The messages recur regardless of whether the java.exe resides on c: or d: drive. Invocation of the java is "java -jar myjava.exe" Sometimes the java.exe fails and sometimes it runs successfully. I had no problems with the hardware, software or java code before about 2 months ago and am not aware of any changes other than standard deployed patches. I have not had the error messages on other machines running same code on Win7 Home Premium or W2008R2. Unable to open SCSI Controller 0:[\], error codes 0x5 Unable to open SCSI Controller 1:[\], error codes 0x5 Is this a drive hardware problem, controller hardware problem, controller software problem or what? Suggestions on how to determine cause/fix? Thx.

Have you tried reverting back to a previous version of java? Uninstall your current version and go to the following link and put in a earlier version and see if that helps. I usually use Java version 6 update 22. If that works go into control panel and look under java and uncheck the automatic update box. http://www.oldapps.com/java.php

Hi, If this error just occurred when using JAVA files, it seems this issue is more related to JAVA. I suggest you can try to reinstall your JAVA program to test the issue. Also, you can test the issue in Clean Boot mode and Safe Mode. Regards Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
