uPnP & Network hardware
I have the 64-bit version of WIndows 7 beta 1, build 7000 connected to the LAN. It does not see the Linksys WRT54G any better than Vista or XP could. I have a different machine running Linux as a web server, and all the Windows and Apple machines are connected DHCP and everyone is connected no problem.I would like the box to be visible as a uPnP device so its easier to manage. Should I move to a more advanced class of infrastructure?I am a professional developer and I am registered with Microsoft Connect. I am also a vegan. I also do web development. uPnP is a security nightmare. It is the first thing I disable on every device on a network.Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

I still want the box on the network topology map. Windows should also be able to see Linux machines as well, I have Samba on the web box so I can see it as a network object so I can edit web content without using FTP etc and muck of the files. I can even use a zip file to backup or the NTBACKUP as its visible. Why cannot the network control panel see the asset???Eveything I own is behind the WRT54G box which acts as a hardware firewall etc. It works fine. Every notebook with the right key connects easily.I am a professional developer and I am registered with Microsoft Connect. I am also a vegan. I also do web development.
