Because the machine was a company (domain) computer, there are many Group Policies set which will prevent you from using it freely. Back up your data and do a clean install of Windows. When the laptop was given to you (or you purchased it), you should have received reinstallation media. It is unlikely that the recovery image from the laptop mftr. is on the hard drive since most IT Depts. apply a corporate image. If you didn't get reinstallation media, then contact the laptop mftr.'s tech support to order a recovery disc set. This is normally very inexpensive, around $25-50. If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). The professional will be able to back up your data and do a clean install of Windows for you.http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html -Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Reinstalling_Windows -What you will need on-hand MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
