troubles with homegroup
I have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller on my EVGA Classified m/b. Now it has all the updated drivers. My issue is I cannot make a homegroup on my machine. I've even reinstalled Win 7 64bit. I cannot start Peer Networking or PNRP, they both give me errors. I get differing mesages when i try to make a homegroup. Cannot make on this machine an error and now when I try to make one it just runs on forever never accomplishing this. I'm stumped. I've tried many different things that have been recommended but nothing has worked so far. I was really shocked after reloading Win first the services could be started but after rboot neither will start now. Help!

Sorry but I'm having a little trouble understanding the complete picture (gotta find my eye glasses). First, are you able to get on the internet through your network adapter? (just checking) Start here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/homegroup, go through the checklist here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/homegroup-from-start-to-finishMCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. As I said I canot start a homegroup. When going in services I get error code 1068 for both Peer Networking and PNRP, won't stat and checking the IPv6 adapter setting It gives me No Internet Access. I've tried troubleshooting that to no avail. This is an upgrade from Vista 64 bit through the Beta program. The OEM copy I boght and installed on a rig I built my wife is fine. If you can give me any help I would appreciate it. I hate to format and reload as their is over 300 gig of info and Lord knows how many programs to reload. I noticed this issue after loading Office 2010 beta but find it hard to believe that is the problem. Any ideas befor I reformat? And if I do reformat do I have to load Vista again and then 7 or can I just reinstall 7. God, I'm already thinking of spend a day or two of rebuilding my system and files. There's got to be some simple fix but I'm seeing quite a few having this issue. As I said I have the updated drivers for the Realtek adapter and it checks out fine in Device mgr, it's the Peer Networking and PNRP not starting and the IPv6 issues holding me back.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Logon the computer with administrator account. 2. Remove the file named "idstore.sst" in the following location: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst 3. Reboot the computer and check if how works. Hope this helps. Nicholas Li - MSFT
