trouble printing from one computer
I have a network of windows xp computers that print to a network printer. All computers are fully updated and printer has latest driver. All other computers print fine. This computer has no other network related issues that I can see. When I print from office or internet the document just sits in queue with no errors. I have figured out that if I go into the services console and restart the printer spool the document will print. This is more of a workaround and I wonder how to actually fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated.1 person got this answerI do too

What printer port are you using to print to that device on the machine that isn't working? -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

Please let me know, did you select printer spooler service as Automatic in startup type box. If not Please perform these steps. 1. Start/Run type services.msc in the box and click on Ok. 2. Select printer spool services right click on that and open Properties. 3. Please select Automatic in startup drop down box and click apply, ok. 4. Restart system. Please reply if it resolves your problem. K M JHA Technical Support Executive (INDIA)

Yes the print spooler service is set to automatic, and it is always started when I go there, but I still have to restart it in order to print.

O.K., so standard IP port? Not some vendor-specific IP port? Have you tried deleting the all of the printers off the troublesome computer and reinstalling them clean?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

actually it is a vendor specific port. Description reads: hp standard tcp/ip port. I will do clean install and just use standard tcp/ip port

I reinstalled using a standard tcp/ip port and it now prints normally. not sure why it wont print using the hp standard port since the other computers are using it with no issue. Thanks for the help Ben!
