terrible bad DFS Share Performance
Hi folks, a few days ago i get my Win 7 RTM Enterprise x64 copy via technet plus. With this RTM release i made the first real enviroment test. When i join the Win 7 Client to our domain, first of all everything seems to work perfekt. But when i connect a Windows Server 2003 Domain DFS share to my Win 7 client the desaster begin. Everytime you try to write, create oder edit files, no matter locally or on the DFS share the performance is terrible. There is a approx. a gap of 10sec or longer, before a get access to files, folder etc. This occures to different dfs shares on different domains within the forest. It seems that the client try to resolve the hole DFS share. When finish "resolving/index" the DFS share the performance is okay, like a vista client. The worst part is, the Win 7 "enumerate/index" the DFS share every ~10-15min. What could be the reason, or did Win 7 change the typ of resolving DFS shares? Is it possible to fallback the resolving mechanism? This effect occours on Win 7 Ent. x64 en and Win 7 Ent. x86 de . When i directly connect a share that is also a DFS Link this effect doesnt happend, only when i connect a domain DFS. I hope someone could help me with this problem. Greetz from germany
