telnet timeout reduce?
hi, I nslookup a server. I can ping it: myserver1 I can not reach 3456 port, it's fine. when I telnet: telnet myserver1 3456 ... waiting 30 seconds(timeout) How can i reduce this? for example, is it possible to set it to 3 secs? * I tried tlntadmn.exe, but I got following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

1. This may be caused by wrong name resolution. Is the same time response with myserver1 specified by IP address? 2. Telnet registry settings are here http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/cc771020(v=ws.10).aspx Regards Milos

yes, when using IP, result is the same: 30 sec. my option is not configurable by regedit. I'm trying telnet, it's normal that I can not connect (because port is not permitted by firewall) So I wait 30 seconds. I want ro reduce it to 3 seconds. is there another way to do this?

Hi, Have you Enabling Telnet Client in Windows 7? If not, please try to enable it and then try again to use tlntadmn [\\RemoteServer] config [timeout=hh:mm:ss] to check the result. More reference: Telnet commands Hope this helps Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

hi, telnet client is already installed of course. how would it be possible to run telnet command if otherwise. I installed telnet server and run: tlntadmn config timeout=00:00:05 but it did not work, because my computer is not a telnet server, it is a telnet client.
