task bar problem
I have come across some problems with the taskbar. I've pinned iTunes, Steam, Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Audiosurf (along with other things). The first day everything was working fine, but now there's problems. iTunes has the "unrecognizable file type" icon. When I click on Steam a new icon appears and it uses the half life icon and everything with steam is with the new icon. When I click on Portal and Audiosurf the same icon pops up at the end (so there's 2 icons for Portal or Audiosurf). The same thing happens with Team Fortress 2 but it uses the icon from Team Fortress classic. I don't even have that game. It doesn't really bother me, but I was wondering if there any fixes to it, because all the other programs I pinned to the taskbar are working correctly.(image reference:http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p190/RAWowner333/dockproblems.png)

Hi, Did the issue occur at the beginning? If so, we will consider reporting this behavior to our development. However, if it started to occur recently, I suggest that you create a new user account and see if the issue also occurs. If it does not occur, transfer all personal data to the new account and work with the account instead. Arthur Xie - MSFT

HiProblem with HL based games is that they areHL mods andthey are loaded and hosted by Half Life -hl.exe.This means that games are loaded by hl.exe using command line options or config files that specify what mod to run.It is the same as when shortcut for games are created - you need manually to set startup options and icons you wantI think in case with new option to pin programs to taskbar it is important how you have pinned games to taskbar. To pin game what you want, run it first and when it appears on taskbar right click on its icon and select pin to taskbar to pin it.Then if required adjust game icon and add startup folderCurrent icon assigned to itunes shows that icon assigned to taskbar shortcut cannot be found at path specified. This may happen if path point to removable drive that is disconnected, if drive letter of drive where icon file is located is changed, or if file containing icon is deleted. To change icon or to make any change to taskbar button settings do:1. Right click taskbar button2. From menu right click item under first separation bar (it have thesame icon as thatof taskbar button)3. From menu select properties4. From shortcut tab set new icon or command line options5. Click OK button when finish to apply changes and close shortcut options windows
