Navigate down to the taskbar and do a CTRL+RIGHTCLICK on the Lync icon. When you do this, you get the oh so wonderful "Configuration Information" menu item .

Check EWS information here and let us know.

Hi Shamshuddin Shaik,

Please run the following cmdlet, check if the externalurl is populated.

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Server yourexchangecas | fl name,internalurl,externalurl

If the value is empty, you can run the following cmdlet to configure it.

For example:

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -ExternalUrl https://mail.domain.com/EWS/exchange.asmx -InternalUrl https://mail.domain.com/EWS/exchange.asmx -BasicAuthentication $true

Best regards,

Eric

Note that these are PowerShell cmdlets to be run on an Exchange 201x server targeting the CAS server role.

Hi Shamshuddin Shaik,

If EWS is not available, Lync uses MAPI to obtain free/busy information from outlook.

And the "yourexchangecas" is your Exchange Client Access Server (CAS) FQDN.

Eric

This information is never updated in Lync? MAPI alone should work regardless of EWS.

When you make a change in Outlook it can take quite some time to make its way to Lync, I believe the default is 30 minutes. You can change the timers, here is a great article on how to do that - http://www.justin-morris.net/how-does-lync-2010-use-exchange-calendar-information/

It's also worth noting that the Lync client is required to be signed in to collect free/busy changes and save them back to the Lync Presence Document so other users can see these changes.

Hi Shamshuddin Shaik,

Im writing to follow up on this thread. Do you have any updates on this issue? Please post back at your convenience.

If it still does not work, I suggest you should configure Lync to use EWS.

Eric

Hi Eric,

I am experiencing the same problem.

It is affecting 3 users so far. They are using MS Lync 2010 ver 7577.4445 and 7577.4087

However it works fine for me through a Citrix Xenapp session, for the version 7577.4384

I cannot find that version that I have installed in my xenapp for tests, all links I tried so far are pointing to the version 7577.4445
EWS is not deployed and there is not url for EWS external as well.

I do not know if it is related to the domain, because I am using Lync in domain @domain.co.uk and the other user is on @domain.com

Lync itself works fine, it is just the presence status not being updated when the user is in a meetings.

I have escalated this to 3rd Line, they have checked everything, all fine.

Just one more detail, no matter what machine user is logged on the issue follows her profile.

Any ideas?!?!?

Hi Team,

i configured one more laptop with outlook 2010 and Lync 2013.

configured outlook and login on Lync with my account. that system Lync is showing status update with Outlook calendar. once meeting starts after 5  or 7 min Lync status is update as "in meeting".

looks no issue on server or user account settings.

when i use outlook 2013 and Lync 2013 having issue , status not update with Outlook calendar.

i compare Lync configuration on both system,

one line is missed on Non working system, "Server SIP URI" showing empty, but earlier is there but not working.

now this line is missed in Non working PC.

outlook 2010 PC having this line and filled with My SIP address.

above info may be useful to share some solution or find some more.

Thanks for your time and Valuable messages.

Hi Shamshuddin Shaik,

So it works with Lync 2013 and Outlook 2010...

You may try installing the latest update for both Lync 2013 and Outlook 2013.

Best regards,

Eric
