The Startup Programs information in System Information, Software Environment, Startup Programs (or msinfo32) may show more things than it should and can be quite intimidating. When you see a big list like you describe, the information gathering process has gone haywire somewhere along the way, but doesn't seem to present any other issues (besides looking peculiar). I think that most folks never even look at that section or even know it is there, so there are probably a lot of systems in the world that have the issue and it is not even noticed. It most certainly should work correctly though.I forget the reason why it gets that way (some accumulation of information over time of adding new softwares...), but you can fix it so it makes more sense and is less scary with a little VB Script from Ramesh's site. You can save and read the script if you care to figure out what it does and how it works. You could do all the operations yourself by hand, but the script is easier. The script will make some registry changes, so if you choose to run the script, backup your registry first. Here is a popular free registry backup tool:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/erunt.htmlHere is a link with more information and also you can download the script from Ramesh to clean up the Startup Programs list.http://windowsxp.mvps.org/msinfofix.htmThank you, Ramesh.Reboot your system after running the script and please report back your results. We (or at least I) can't tell what you mean by your mouse software doesn't always load, to try to explain that and answer these questions:How do you know the mouse software doesn't always load (what makes you think that)? Are you using a wireless mouse/keyboard?If your mouse is wired, is your mouse a PS/2 or USB mouse?Has the mouse ever worked properly and what do you think might have happened since it last worked properly? Please provide additional information about your system:What is your system make and model? What is your XP Version and Service Pack?Describe your current antivirus and anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc. What do you see that you don't think you should be seeing? What do you not see that you think you should be seeing?Fill in the blank: My system was working fine until: ____________________________________________.Do, or do not. There is no try.I need YOUR votes and points for helpful replies and Propose as Answers. I am saving up for a pony!
