standard solutions do no work, can not join homegroup
Both systems are running w7pro, both are in same workgroup, pc2 notifies me it sees the homegroup on laptop1, but when I try to join it can not. Troubleshooter doesn't find anything. Have deleted .sst file off of pc2. Have removed & recreated homegroup on laptop1, same symptoms.

Hi,Are the 2 computers in a same workgroup? Also disable Windows Firewall and other security programs especially third party firewall to test again. If issue still exists, try create the homegroup on PC2 to see the result. Meanwhile, what is the error when failing to join the homegroup? Please provide a screenshot. Here are the steps to upload a picture.

I brought the laptop home, installed win7 ultimate on a desktop pc. And get the same results. I can not join the homegroup. I can see the other pc, but then I try to join, it eventually times out after entering the password and give the error: Windows cannot set up a homegroup on this computer. I have firewall disabled on both pc's. They can ping each other ok.
