ssd polling
I recently installed an ssd in my system and so far it's great. I did notice something odd today. Every two seconds the drive light flashes I know it's a program doing it but can't seem to pin it down. I went to msconfig and disabled everything and it stopped. Is there a way to tell process explorer to highlight any disk io. I tried using the spacebar to freeze proc explorer to no avail. I'd really like to find what is doing it and stop it. TIA

Have you tried watching the Resource Monitor and see if something's actually accessing the SSD?

What drive light, specifically are you seeing flash?  Would that same light flash if your system were accessing the optical drive?  I believe under some conditions the system may poll certain optical drives to see if a disc has been inserted.

Thanks for the follow-up.  I'm sure the information will help others.

The SearchIndexer didn't occur to me, as that's one of the first things I disable when I set up a new system, so it's out of sight, out of mind here.  Indexing doesn't make much sense anyway, and I build systems on fast SSDs, which are fast to just actually search when needed.
