are windows 7 compatible but i am getting very slow transfer speeds from the external drive to the laptop, the router is showing that the external drive is a 10Mbps device. how do i speed this up as it is unusable as it is.

Hi,
To troubleshoot the issue, you can try the following steps.
1. Please transfer some data on another machine to check the result. If the speed is persists, I suggest you upgrade the router’s firmware and driver for the
external drive. Otherwise, please move on the next steps.
2. Plug the external drive to the Windows 7 laptop directly via USB and check the speed.
3. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and transfer data to the external drive for a test.
Thanks,
Novak
