sfc asks for wrong windows versions
I have a problem where uerinit.exe is missing a dll file. so I tried using sfc /scannow to try recovering the missing dll file. HOwever sfc asked me to insert a Windows XP PRO service pack 2 disk. My instalation disks are windows XP home service pack2 (no PRO) and the disk was rejected as the wrong version. So I then chekced to see what version of XP I have. Turns out that it has windows remote desktop in the accesories (which is the only way I know of distinguishing PRO from home XP) LAter it started asking for Windows XP home without a service pack and this is also being rejected when I insert my install disk. I have never installed XP PRO (I haven't got the disks!) WHat is going on? I am definitely using the correct install disks (Dell disks for a dell machine) for what I re-installed a year or two back.Alternatively does anyone have an alternative solution to mymissing dll file issue with userinit.exe (I can;t remeber the name) I'll find it out when I restart my PC (and run explorer.exe from the task manager)Virus scans and malwarebytes are clean Help please !

Oops! I didn;t notice trhe vista part in the forum name. Sorry.I've looked through the FAQs and I can't see any way of moving this post to the correct forum as I don;t believe I'm a moderator. Does somebody else have to do this or do I have to type/copy it all back into another question in the right forum?
