selecting default adapter for incoming connections on Remote Desktop server (XP/Vista/W7)
the computer i want to be able to connect to via Remote Desktop has two adapters: 1) wi-fi adapter connected to DHCP LAN router and having a 192.168.xxx address and interface metric 1 2) ethernet adapter with a real IP address and interface metric 2 as i understand, by default windows listens to tcp port 3389 for incoming remote desktop connection requests on only one of all installed NICs which in my case seems to be the wi-fi (1) adapter because i have no problem connecting Remote Desktop to the 192.168.xxx from another LAN computer. Attempts to connect to the real address on the ethernet adapter just pop up error message (Windows cannot connect...). also as i understand for the following OSes i need to install these packages, and then use tscc.msc to choose the proper adapter to be used on the Remote desktop server: 1) for WinXP SP3 i installed Adminpak.msi; but run->tscc.msc /s won't start (error Windows cannot find 'tscc.msc'...); Terminal Services Manager link under Administrative Tools does not seem to allow to choose default adapter. 2) for Vista64 SP2 on my other machine i tried installing RSAT for Vista SP1; still same result: tscc.msc is not installed, Terminal Services Manager tool does not offer the option to choose default adapter. 3) and for W7 i would also need to install RSAT for W7 and try the same, right? i haven't tried that yet considering i had no success with the other OSes.. Please someone explain to me how this is supposed to work, maybe i should use some other/third party software to accomplish this simple adapter selection task?
