So how long have you been running Windows 7? If you want help just ask, complaining that its the same old thing doesn't help. Be specific, but here's something to get you started identifying whats causing the problem. http://www.fileinspect.com/fileinfo/svchost-exe/ I highly recommend using Process Explorer from SysinternalsMCSE, MCSA, MCDST

Hi reliasm, Before moving on, I would like to confirm the process's name. Is it "scvhost" or "svchost"? If it is scvhost.exe, this issue should be caused by virus infection. Please run anti-virus software installed and perform a deep scan for the system. However, if the process is svchost.exe, this can be caused by several factors including certain software or service is taking the usage of the process. Please first use Task Manager to see which service is taking the usage of this process. To do this, please perform the steps below: 1. When the issue occurs, please press Ctrl+Shift+Esc on the keyboard to bring up Task Manager. 2. On the Processes tab, click "Show processes from all users". 3. Right click on the svchost.exe which is taking the most usage of the CPU and then click "Go to service(s)".After that, you can see the services which is using this process are highlighted. You can see what the services are by referring "Description" column. Also, you can capture a screenshot of the services by the steps below: Capture screenshot ============ 1. Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2. Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click "Desktop" on the left pane and then click "Save". 6. Please upload the screenshot to your SkyDrive at www.skydrive.live.com and let us know the link. Besides, you can also run Process Explorer as cdobbs suggested to see which program or service is using this process. Please expand the svchost.exe tree list in Windows Explorer to see the detailed information. In addition, the svchost.exe 100% CPU usage issue also can be caused by other factors such as damaged registry, malware infections, and clogged and damaged hard disk. You can run the anti-virus and anti-spyware software to scan the system as well. Hope this helps. Regards, Linda
