schedule task and sleep mode
Hi,
I created a task scheduled to run at certain time everyday and configured it to wake from to run the program if the machine is in sleep mode, everything worked fine.
Since my XP box is getting old I replaced it with a newer one and installed Windows 7 on it, I did the same thing but my task could never wake the machine up to run the program. I have read a few older posts here regarding the sleep mode but not sure if
it is related.
Does anyone have similar issue or have any thoughts about this?

Hi,
After checking this issue, I think you should have some knowledge of how to schedule a task on Windows 7, because it is slightly different from Windows
XP. Please refer to:
Schedule a task
And you want to
configure the Task Scheduler to wake Windows 7 to run a scheduled task, follow these steps:
1.
Click
Start , type Task Scheduler in the Start Search box, and then click
Task Scheduler in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click
Continue.
2.
In the Actions pane of the
Task Scheduler dialog box, click Create Task.
3.
In the
Create Task dialog box, click the Conditions tab.
4.
Click to select the
Wake the computer to run this task check box.
5.
In the
Create Task dialog box, configure the options on the other tabs as appropriate for your needs, and then click
OK.
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Alex Zhao

Hi,
If the issue persists, I suggest you could:
1.
Upgrade the BIOS.
2.
Temporary disable antivirus to check the result.
if it doesn’t work, check the Event log for related events.
Hope it helps.

didn't have time/chance to test it until today
BIOS is the latest
didn't try the anti-virus and I don't think it is the antivirus - they both have the same AV installed
I tried on multiple machines (different models and different AV software) with Win 7 and they all have the same issue
nothing logged in event log
I have borrowed a T60 which had the same configuration as mine, it had XP on and it WORKED
I will put XP on it
