?s regarding importing a firewall policy in Windows7
Out of curiosity, I tried to import using two different files in Windows Firewall with Advance Security. I believe I tried a profilingData text file in my Documents directory and a .mta for security events in a sub-directory in my Documents directory. I believe that I observed an error code 1017 each time I tried. The error message was about the file not being in a registry file format. Does the error message mean nothing was imported? Would importing a real .wfw file create a successfully imported message? What is a .MTA file? Does importing a .WFW file only overwrite registry values?

Hi, If you worry if you import the file successfully, you could try to import the windows firewall policy via command line: Using the Netsh Advfirewall Command-Line Tool If you fail to import the policy, you would get an error message from the command prompt. Regarding what the *.MTA file is, you could right click to check information of this file. When you import a policy, you will overwrite the current policy and the imported policy will be applied. Hope it helps. Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
