reverting access on administrator account so other accounts can see files
Hi i have xp and when i origonally set up the user accounts for the family, the origonal admin account (mine) asked if i wanted files to be visible or to deny access to files from other users, i said yes and it has worked flawlessly.my problem is that in the past i have made backups using my account that cannot be restored in an emergency by any other user. including as i found out to my horror when a new instalation of xp would not let me retrive my backuped files from my prevoius istallations admin account. it didnt occur to me at the time of re installing xp that that was the reason and had set the accounts up in the same way.All i want to do is log into my admin account and remove the access restrictions to all my files so other users can log in on their accounts and see my files and i will protect them individually if neccesary. but in the user accounts setting there doesn't seem to be a way to do this.ive read some other requests on removing restrictions by going into safe mode etc but this will only unlock files already created, not new ones that will be created after.please help anyone 1 person needs an answerI do too

Assuming that you are talking about "Make these files private" and NOT true encryption (which you can't do if you have XP Home):http://windowsxp.mvps.org/undoprivate.htm -Ramesh - How to undo "Make this folder private" option"If you have XP Home and all you did was make your My Documents private, then all you needed to do to have access to your backed-up files was take ownership.Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP [Q308421] -http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421How Do I Get the Security tab in Folder Properties? -http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_security_tab.htmMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
