replace user id and not lose authorization
I am the sole owner of this computer and am having a problem when after a fresh boot or using start > msconfig. After a fresh boot often several of the icons do not appear in the right lower corner task bar. Sometimes I can not tell if I am using electricty or battery when there is no icon. Other times there is no speaker. When I click start > log off then log back on using my same information all the icons magically appear. Each time I reboot my computer I have to do this if I want to see the icons. When I use msconfig to reduce all the cpu consumption at start up I get an administrator message. It accepts my command and then I reboot to save the settings. How do I get it to recognize me as the administrator and eliminate the error message?I am using windows xp home. Hi,· Do you remember making any changes to the system? I would suggest you todo a SFC scan. System File Checker (SFC) checks that all Windows XP system files are where they should be as they were by default and not corrupted, changed, or damaged.a. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.b. Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.c. In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:sfc /scannowd. You should see the following on-screen message:§ Beginning the system scan. This process will take some time.§ Beginning verification phase of system scan.e. Verification % complete.f. Once the scan has completed, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved or not.For further reference, check the KB article mentioned below.Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747 Thank you and Regards.Thahaseena MMicrosoft Answers Support Engineer.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
