repair classpnp.sys boot error, no hw error
Here is the scenario: Big HP laptop with 2 hdd ( identical-320g), both with win7 x64 ultimate installed( hdd 1 for work -hdd 2 for gaming, i can choose which one I boot). The one for gaming not updated since dec. 2010- no time for games. The work one kept tidy and updated. Two weeks ago,I noticed the fingerprint logon option was missing and logged in with password, resulting in an everlasting logon screen. rebooted into safe mode, restored to a day before and after a reboot and some 20 minutes it logged me in. Lots of freezes since. I kept on putting the machine to sleep, afraid the the logon story will happen again if shut down. Weird, when resuming from sleep, the fingerprint is there, when rebooting not. Today, after an Win7 update and reboot, no more logon at all. windows loads fine up to the logon screen, wherever I click there it just halts the system- the cursor keeps circling though but no more actions for hrs. When I tried to safemode, it hang on classpnp.sys. Steps tried: It's already on clean boot since the restore. Everything unchecked.services too. Booted from USB WIN ,Checkdisk, start-up repair, fixmbr, rename the file to *.old ( the first boot after renaming classpnp.sys to old there was a BSOD during boot, then it automatically tried the repair)....everything I found around the forums. Nothing gets me logged in. I CAN START THE GAMING WIN7 and get access to the work hdd. I can log in with my fingerprint in under ten seconds. What/how can I repair/copy files/ drivers/ set permissions from the gaming win to the work HDD in order to make it work? PS. On work Win, I have WP7 SDK, Visual studio, Ida PRO...etc...

Hi, Classpnp.sys is the driver for SCSI devices. Due to this Classpnp.sys your computer hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen. This problem may occur in many scenarios. These scenarios include the following: • The registry is corrupted. • A System file is missing or damaged. • A device driver file is missing or damaged. Please refer the following: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproinstall/thread/cc4f4e17-5db2-4d05-bd2d-ba02173912cb http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-7-hangs-on-startup/12b2cc64-bdaf-4183-9a0d-22a73b72f6d6 If the issue persists , you may do In-place Ugprade to repair the system.
