remove favorite in mail app

In one of my mail accounts in the windows mail app I have a person in the favorites list I don't recognize.

How do I remove someone that has been tagged a favorite? They are not in the people app and I can't even find an email from them???

No idea what email system you are using but if it is Hotmail (or outlook.com) you should ask that question here

IF it is Microsoft Office outlook here

If it is something else, ?????

We also need more info on the contact. Is it a valid email address (someone@somewhere.com)?

Have you tried putting them in your blocked senders list?

I'm using the built-in mail app in windows 8.1. And the mail account is a imap account I set up from my ISP provider. Still, if I click on People under favorites no one is in there by that name.

Let me try this...Can the favorites be edited in the windows 8 mail app inside the mail app?

Hi,

Please try this:

1.On Start, tap or click Mail app;

2.Tap or click the person you want to remove from favorites.

3.Tap or click Favorite. When you go back to the home page of the mail app, you will no longer see this person under your list of favorites.

The only way I could get rid of this was to actually add him to the people app, then follow your instructions above in the mail app, then delete from the people app...geez

Click on people on the left pane and the selected favorites will show in the right pane with a star to the right off there names. Hold mouse pointer over star and click remove. I hope this is what you were wanting. It took me a few hours to figure it out and like always I had to laugh at myself.

Have a good evening

Richard

Thank you for posting this. Karen's instructions above were missing the step of clicking on People first, then clicking the star to deselect the person.
