remotely accessing my home pc with xp from my notebook with vista ultimate.
Greetings, Cannot seem to find the answer. I followed the directions from microsoft, but no luck. I want to be able to remotely monitor my home PC, with XP home edition, from my notebook, vista ultimate. I don't want to ask for permission, I want that already granted if I enter in a log in password. The home PC is on a small home network and I am wanting to do this over the internet. Can I do this? Or do I need to purchase software to make this work?Thank you,

Hello fireman-175, Windows XP Home can be the Remote Desktop client to connect to a computer running Windows Vista Ultimate (or a computer with Remote Desktop) but not vise versa. If you are trying to connect remotely to Windows XP Home from your Vista computer this will not work. If you haven't already, please see: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/02ddfbec-7a97-4788-9d54-86f174a95f841033.mspx -- Eric Cross Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) http://mvp.support.microsoft.com
