remote desktop will not work
I am running Windows Vista Business with SP1. Remote desktop won't work for some reason. I have remote desktop enabled, and all the services are working. (I have gone to the services page and found there terminal service to be running) My computer isn't listening on port 3389. In the event viewer there is an error that says:Terminal Service start failed. The relevant status code was Error: 0xc004f012. I have heard from someone else that the error code has something to do with vista genuine problems. My copy of windows is activated, and I have gone to the validate page, and have validated my computer. I don't know if it will help any but I will post my MGA Diagnostic information. Hi, The WGA Diagnostic has indicated that the system is Genuine. The issue should not be caused by validation. The behavior may be caused by the anti-virus and firewall which can block the Terminal Service to start. I suggest that you temporary disable the security programs on the host computer, and then try to connect to the host from Remote Desktop. If the issue persists, please follow the steps below to check the Terminal Service. 1. Click the Start Button, in Start Search box, type: "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 2. Double click the service " Terminal Services". 3. Click on the "General" tab; make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic" or "Manual". Then please click the "Start" button under "Service Status" to start the service. Please let me know the result.

Hi, Have you tried the suggestion to re-enable Terminal Service? In most situations, even a service is corrupt, it will still shows as "running". In this case, we disable it, and re-enable it to check if it works properly. If the process does not report any errors, we could confirm that the service is running correctly. Please try and let us know the result. If the issue still occurs, check Event Log and try to find if there is more information when the issue occurs. Additionally, please let us know if the issue occurred when the computer was built, or it started to occur recently.
