recover 'empty recycle bin' - A'W'ESOME 7 (W7 RC)
G'day all, Need to locate empty recycle bin files, folders and other? Look no further. Fully integrated capabilities to restore previous versions ( http://www.blogsdna.com/2039/exploring-windows-7-system-restore-restore-previous-versions.htm ) , definitely a practical, easy to find and consumer friendly addition to an amazing operating system, along with the ability to actually browse and open the folder and contents before committing to restoring that version. (My question actually is: How to recover system restore points?) Unfortunately it seems disk cleanup has a featured tick box option, which I used, albeit I'm uncertain exactly what I did whilst using disk cleanup and I've just discovered after an hour that all my system restore points have been erased with the system restore window displaying 'none created'. Prior to working out system restore were deleted, I had also opened the system protection and moved the max usage (disk space usage) bar left and right, setting it back to the position it was set at. Now I'm thinking I accidentally clicked apply, out of sheer accident, but isn't the cancel button always meant to be on the far right? Anyway, if microsoft have gone this far surely there is a way to recover restore points?????? If not, someone make a fix for that, now that would make this OS really cool. So to sum it all up, I deleted a large amount of folders in an attempt to free up RAM on my 1GB RAM driven HP pavillion DV6113tx (having reached its threshold) and being confident I have backups of everything I need, I empty recycle bin then discover my backup document file isn't the final (final, final) version and freak out. I restore previous version (thanks MS) and the document I recover turns out not to be the one I'm looking for, believing that something has gone astrew (astrue) during the process I freak more. Turns out the document I sought, was safe and secure on my external hard drive and was not even on the computer in the first place and will teach me for having placed it within a series of extensive folders within folders. Then arrives my 2 x 1GB RAM and I upgrade, which performance has improved drastically i.e. I generally run lots of programs at once and have many installed, W7 RC was fine until my (XP OEM 2005 - vista capable) model notebook become overloaded, as it did with XP and vista. In the mean time, I need to find some other important documents....wish me luck. Time to trawl the net :( Trawled the net and found this link http://community.boredofstudies.org/123/central/217425/warning-windows-7-users.html , which mentions 3rd party registry cleaners can delete system restore, which I use norton 360 V3, although I'm not 100% convinced it was the source of my dilemma. I will continue researching. Peace out. Agorganic
