recimg /createimage

I've just finished creating an image for my Win8.1 Pro OS with this command:

        recimg /CreateImage C:\Refresh

After successfull completion, I commanded this:

        recimg /ShowCurrent

and I got this answer:

        \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition1\Refresh

Is this a new way of saying C:\Refresh? Or the recimg application did not updated the WIM folder? As far as I remember from other image creations, it should've answered C:\Refresh.

I tried:

        recimg /SetCurrent C:\Refresh

but to no avail, it did not change anything. Any thoughts about this?

Hi,

Every other time I used recimg /showcurrent, it outputted the logical drive ( C: ) and not the technical hardware denomination.

Also, I did not find any information as what GLOBALROOT translates into; but the most intriguing is ' \\?\ ' ! What does the '?' mean? Maybe the correct value could not be determinated; maybe it's a sensitive info that cannot be disclosed.

But my real worry is about what'll happen when I need to refresh the system; if that technical hardware denomination does not translate into C:\Refresh, I'll have a big problem.

Let me remind you that I commanded recimg with C:\Refresh: recimg /SetCurrent C:\Refresh

Can you confirm with MS engineers?

Thanks.

Hi,

I haven't found article which explains the "?", but when I run reagentc /info in my systems, it all show Windows RE location and Recovery Image location format as \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device...
