This is a problem of recent origin, I'm not certain exactly when it began. When I reading an E-mail, am on Facebook, do a web search, or am on a site from my 'Favorites' tab the following is happening most of the time: I encounter a link,
such as the ones listed as "Related Topics" on this page; I clink on the link, then the screen goes white and blank and there is a new tab in the upper right for what I assume (or presume) should be the link, but the tab is also blank save for an
"x" to close it. As first I thought it was a matter of time to complete a download; but waiting doesn't change the result. I don't receive any error message, just an empty screen.
It doesn't happen all of the time just most of the time. The problem appears to being getting worse.
It is like I cannot do anything beyond one level or one surface of computing on the web. The big stuff like the FB home page or the results of a Google search are fine, but beyond that nothing, like a link provided by someone's
post on FB or one of the search results provided. I'm not having this sort of problem with the software used offline, like Word or Excel.
Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1) is my O/S, my ISP is AT&T, my computer is an HP G56 notebook.
Any thoughts or ideas?
