re-doing updates
I installed Lightroom yesterday and it has partiallyscrewed up the Nvidia driverswhich were downloaded as an optional update. (I can't find the program group anywhere) and. although the Nvidia control pannel appears to work ok I can't get NView up and have lost the 'allways on top' functions etc. I can't uninstall the update and then re-install as it doesnt show up in the un-install updates box, if I check for updates it says 'none available' How can I get this update to re-run? Or from where can I down load the program from? iIt's not on the Nvidia website

You might want to start out by uninstalling your current NVIDIA drivers/software (I'm assuming you're still running the integrated WDDM 1.0/1.1) and installing the latest Vista 32-bits/64-bits WHQL drivers from the NVIDIA site (181.20 or 181.22). Don't forget to run the installer under Vista compatibility mode and as an administrator.

Thanks for that suggestion I now have a Nvidia program group displayed but only the Nvidia control panel and thePhysXavailable not the NView one, it's not shown in control panel or the program goup, and if I try to run the Nview set up exe from explorerit starts but then says " Nvidia nView Desktop Manager Installation Failed" "click on finish to close the wizard".

This option should be under NVIDIA Control Panel -> Display -> Set up multiple displays. I think they moved some stuff around a few releases ago.
