i've done clean installs on both laptops ran the troubleshoots on both of them but i can't connect my secondery laptop to my main one any ideas. if you need any more information then just tell me what you need and i'll stick it up here for you. thanks dale

When you go into the homegroup screen on the 2nd machine what does it say? Have you run the homegroup troubleshooter?

it asks me if i want to set up a homegroup and i've ran it on both of them and it dosen't find a problem

Did your second machine receive the invitation to join the homegroup?
