heyy in my university they use proxy and because of that i can update my window or windows live onecare, even i can't open the msn. some of this problems r not exist on windows xp so can anybody help me plz?

Hi Bilal, First, please help me to clarify the following scenarios: 1. Except the Windows update and Live OneCare software, can you use IE or other browser to view websites normally? 2. Did this issue ever occur before? Do other Windows Vista computers in your network encounter same issue? 3. Have you checked your local hardware/software firewall which may also cause this issue? Please let me know, thanks. This issue may be normal and by design especially in university, bank, government etc. network if your Windows Vista comptuer is using proxy server to connect to the Internet. For security purpose, general proxy server will block specific ports and protocals so that certain applications cannot be connected with the Internet. Based on the current situation, the most efficient way is to contact the university local network administrator for more information about the proxy settings.
